IISc Bangalore has bagged the first position in NIRF Rankings 2019 released for top universities in India. Other universities following IISc Bangalore in NIRF Ranking are Jawaharlal Nehru University at Rank 2, Banaras Hindu University at Rank 3, Hyderabad University at Rank 4, and Calcutta University at Rank 5. Most of the universities which have found a place in top 10 are the same as the ones ranked in 2018. Calcutta University has shown significant improvement from last year as the varsity has jumped from position 14 in 2018 to position 5 in 2019. Delhi University, which had secured Rank 7 last year has not been able to retain a spot in top 10 universities in India in NIRF Ranking 2019.
